2012 Dreambuilders Projects

We are returning to New Orleans May 20-26 to work with the St Bernard Project which is still (after all these years) working to get Hurricane Katrina victims back in their homes in the St Bernard Parish. Our summer trips will be to White River Junction, Vermont to help build/rebuild homes for victims of last summer's Hurricane Irene flooding. Those trips will be June 17-23 (60 missioners) and July 29-August 4 (30 missioners). Current plans are to build two homes in June and one in July.

All of our trips are open for teens (currently in 9th grade or older) and adults. Our New Orleans trip is traditionally adults and college students due to the May date. With the last possible Howard County schools snow make-up day being June 15, we are able to offer an earlier June mission trip, before camps and summer jobs kick in to gear.

The presentation at the General Meeting shows details of each of the trips for this year. Click here to see the slideshow.

Local Projects

DreamBuilders Fall Arc Project

DreamBuilders worked with Arc of Howard County to renovate the group home at 10518 Graeloch Rd Laurel MD 20723. We had several work weekends October-December. The first weekend was demolition weekend and we took the house down to the subfloor and exterior studs. The following weekends were spent on a variety of tasks rebuilding the house. Pictures are much better than words so go to the following link to see the project:

In addition to volunteering for a mission trip – how can you help?

Join the leadership team!

For DreamBuilders to continue to grow and offer more mission trips and local projects, we are in need of volunteers to join the leadership team. We envision a core team that will train and then oversee leadership teams for each mission trip/project. Each trip is a team effort, so no one person shoulders all of the weight.

Help with fundraising

Throughout the year, our congregations sponsor a variety of fund raising activities. These funds cover a portion of the airfare for our volunteers, food, on-site transportation costs, and a portion of the building costs. Volunteers pay for most of their own air fare and provide some of the tools. We are also planning to do two Blitz Builds in West Virginia in 2011 that will require raising $80,000. We are always looking for new fundraising ideas and can use your help.

Provide contributions for our annual Silent Auction

Contributions are needed from local merchants and others for the silent auction that will be held in conjunction with the DreamBuilders congregations’ 7th Annual Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction on April 15, 2011 at Temple Isaiah 5-8 pm. To donate or if you would like to be a corporate sponsor, please contact Steve Kimberling at 410-730-6461 or stevekimberling@verizon.net .
